The third release that has something to do with the various groups Keith & Donna Godchaux were members of after they left the Grateful Dead. The other two releases are The Ghosts - Playing in the Heart of Gold Band (released in 1984) & The Heart of Gold Band - The Heart of Gold Band (released in 1986) and this release is actually a kind of compilation of both albums. Or not quite... The last 4 tracks of Playing in the Heart of Gold Band are resurrected, which makes sense since that album consists of 5 tracks when the group was still called The Ghosts and 4 tracks when they changed their name to The Heart of Gold Band. The complete The Heart of Gold Band (the one from 1986) album is also dusted off, but of course that still only contains 9 tracks. This means that you have 4 tracks that are not on any other album: Gomorrah, Show Boat, Maybellene and Ride Out. The first two tracks are songs Keith & Donna once recorded for their self-titled debut album (Keith and Donna Godchaux - Keith & Donna that was released in 1975) and are performed live here. Maybellene is a cover of a Chuck Berry piece that appears to have been recorded in the studio, and Ride Out actually seems to be the version The Ghosts played and which can be found as the first track on Playing in the Heart of Gold Band... A somewhat chaotic release that on the one hand does bring two extra live songs compared to previous releases by The Heart of Gold Band, but still not a full-fledged concert and what is that song by The Ghosts doing here again? To be honest, I'm completely lost when it comes to these releases. Even though there are some live songs, I'm cataloging this as a studio album.
